Watches & Wonders | Tudor's New Watches 2026 + JLC, Zenith & Cartier.

Let's just get the elephant in the room poached and the tusks removed (that's a joke, I abhor such behaviour), The Rolex 2026 offerings are all pretty lame. The Tudor newboys, however, are not. Well, mostly they are not. The Black Bay 54 in blue is very nice, the Royal is just ok and the Black Bay 58 (regular and GMT) are the same old. It's the Monarch and BB 58 Ceramic that are the winners up in here.

It's the same case as the old Black Bay Ceramic I think but with added ceramic bracelet, the old leather one was lame, though it looked good on a nato it was missing that edge that ceramic watches have - they need to be the full package. Interestingly and thankfully, the bracelet is full ceramic, not coated, this is important for credibility and style. I love this new iteration, it's a full on ninja warrior stealth fighter.

The M7941A1ACNU-0001 rolls in on a 41mm case bashes the wallet in at £6,030. Don't worry, it'll be down to £3000 in a few years.

The Winner.

You know what we love seeing, a new watch, under 40mm with style and grace, a flashy bracelet, a California dial, an exhibition caseback, anti-snowflake hands and a logo at 12 o'clock. It's almost the perfect watch, if it was 37mm rather than the 39mm it clocks in at - I would be calling the AD. The Tudor Monarch (M2639W1AOU-0001) is £4,600, it's a bit expensive, but apparently there's a bit of gold on the movement so fair enough. A bit sporty and a bit classy, some would say it's neither here nor there, I would say wherever this is I'm there, once the price comes down...

Before I mug off, let's have a look at a few more beauties. The mesh bracelet on the new Cartier Santos-Dumont is quite lovely.

Cartier Tortue

Cartier Privé Opus

Here we have some platinum Tank Normale, Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir, and the iconic Crash Squelette. I can take or leave the Crash but the other two are sexual.

The Zenith G.F.J. CALIBRE 135, Limited Edition, it's gold and got a bloodstone dial, enough said.

And finally, JLC have gone all triple-axis-gyro-tourbillon and and Hybris with their new hat-trick of mechanised misfits, they are bonkers.

Master Hybris Inventiva Gyrotourbillon À Stratosphère.

Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra Thin Minute Repeater.

Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Jumping Date.

And that's it for now, I'm overstimulated. I will calm down by looking at pictures of meadows of grass from the Jura Valley. I have been a bit quiet, but I feel the passion resurfacing like a dormant volcano coming back to life, the hotness rises in me... stay tuned!

Yours Horologically,

Alvin
